The Honest Boy and the Hungry Dog
This story teaches us that honesty and compassion are the true paths to God.

Story
In the small town of Govind Nagar, there lived a cheerful little boy named Rohit. He loved playing in the fields, flying kites, and listening to stories from his grandmother. His grandmother would often narrate stories of God and Goddesses. Listening to all the stories, Rohit believed that God was a superhero; he had one big wish to see God.
“Where is God? How can I find Him?” he would often ask.
His grandmother smiled and said, “God lives where there is honesty and compassion, my child.”
One morning, while walking to school, Rohit’s eyes caught a shiny coin lying on the road. His heart jumped. “Wow! With this coin, I can buy sweets or toys!” he thought. But then he remembered his grandmother’s words. “This coin isn’t mine. If I take it, it will be dishonest.”
So, instead of keeping it, he went to the shop nearby and said, “Uncle, someone must have dropped this coin. Please keep it safe.”
The shopkeeper was surprised. “Rohit, you are such an honest boy! Most children would have kept it.”

Later that day, while returning home, Rohit passed by the temple. Outside, he saw a skinny, hungry dog lying in the shade. The poor dog looked weak and sad. Rohit quickly opened his lunch box. There was some food with him, and he gently placed the food before the dog. The dog wagged its tail and started eating the food. Rohit was very happy in his heart.
That night, as Rohit slept, he had a beautiful dream. A bright golden light filled his room, and from it came a soft, loving voice: “Rohit, your honesty and compassion bring you closer to me than any prayer or offering. Remember, I live where there is honesty, kindness, and love for all beings. With these good qualities, you can always feel me.”

Rohit woke up with joy in his heart. He now understood what his grandmother meant.
From that day on, he promised himself, “I will always live life with honesty and help others with compassion. That is the way to God.”
