This story teaches us that humility and sharing with love are more valuable than wealth.

The Feast That Never Ended - Ganesha Teaches Kuber a Lesson

Story Anubhav and Diya were walking home after a birthday party. Anubhav was 9 years old and Diya was 11 years old.

On the way home, Anubhav said, “Diya didi, did you see how Arjun was showing off his fancy gifts and his big cake? He kept saying, “Look how expensive everything is!” I didn’t like it.

Diya replied, “Hmm, yes, Anubhav. Sometimes, when people have too much, they forget to be humble. This reminds me of something.”

Anubhav asked, “What, a story?

Diya said, “Yes! A wonderful story about Bhagwan Ganesha and Kuber, the God of Wealth. Do you want to hear it?

Anubhav: Yes, didi, please! Tell me now!

Diya began, “Long ago, there lived a rich and proud god named Kuber. He had golden palaces, diamonds, and gold in his chests, and more treasure than he could count!

Anubhav: Whoa! So he was like a super-rich king?

Diya warmly replied, “Exactly! But Kuber had one problem—he loved to show off. One day, he decided to throw a grand feast and invite Bhagwan Shiv and Mata Parvati to show them how grand his palace was. Shiv Bhagwan smiled and said, “We’re busy, but why don’t you take our son Ganesha instead?”

Anubhav said, “That must have been fun! Ganesh ji loves food, right?”

Diya said, “Yes! So, Ganesha went to Kuber’s palace. And oh, Anubhav—you won’t believe what happened next! Ganesha started eating, and eating and eating! First, he finished all the sweets. Then he ate the fruits, the rice, the curries, the laddoos... everything!

“Kuber asked his cook to make more rice, sweets, curry, pudding, but soon Ganesh Ji ate that too. After some time, the cook told Kuber that nothing was left in the kitchen. Everything is finished.”

Anubhav: Everything? That’s a lot!

Diya: But Ganesha was still hungry!  So he ate the furniture, the golden plates, the palace walls...

Anubhav giggled and asked, “He ate the palace too?”

Diya said, “Almost! Kuber was shocked. He fell to his knees and begged, “Please, Ganesha! I don’t have anything left to give you!”

Ganesha said calmly, “You invited me to show off your wealth, not to serve with love. True giving comes from the heart, not from pride.”

Kuber realised his mistake. He rushed to Shiv Ji and Parvati Ji and asked for forgiveness. Devi Parvati gave Kuber a small bowl of food made with love and asked him to serve it to Ganesha—and Ganesh Ji was satisfied!

Anubhav said, “So, Ganesh Ji wasn’t really hungry; he just wanted to teach Kuber a lesson!”

Diya said, “Exactly! Being rich isn’t bad, but being proud and boastful about it is.”

Anubhav: Just like Arjun was today. Maybe he, too, needs to hear this story.

Diya smilingly said, “Maybe you can tell it to him, gently, like a good friend would.

Anubhav: I will! Thanks, Didi.

Bhagwan Ganesha is so smart—and kind. He teaches us not to show off what we have. Rather share with love, stay humble, and always remember that kindness is greater than riches!
