myNachiketa: Our Story

We began our story three years back. We wanted to give kids exposure to the Philosophical traditions of Hinduism - Who am I? Who is God? What is our purpose in the world?

Gita became our primary anchor to give this knowledge.

We focus on two learning goals:

Curiosity led

Knowledge

Introducing deepest conceptual knowledge from Gita, inculcating a questioning approach

Life

Principles

Teaching philosophy as a way to live a fulfilling and worthwhile life

We quickly realized NO CONTENT exists for taking Gita to the children.
That is where we began….

That is where we began….

1. Graded books to introduce Gita Wisdom

We focused on three kinds of books:

  • Interactive knowledge books sharing concepts, and exercises

  • Story books exemplifying philosophical concepts

  • Activity, and coloring books to learn while having fun

What Makes Our Books Special
  • Story-based learning inspired by the Bhagavad Gita

  • Curated packs for every age group & full families

  • Encourages thinking, questioning, and values

  • Available in English & Hindi

Our Bestsellers

We do not give books for free. We sell books. When books are bought, they are read. We lose Rs 30 on each book sold. We need to raise to subsidize our book sales.

2. Free Weekly Gita Classes

We don’t stop at books
We have realized kids have many questions. Why is someone poor? What happens after death? Where does God live? Why do they fall ill? And so on…

There is NO SPACE for them to discuss these questions. This is where our WEEKLY SUNDAY FREE GITA CLASS comes in.

What Happens in the Class

  • Simple explanation of Gita concepts and good behavior

  • Shlokas discussed and understanding of meaning is stressed

  • Interactive discussion, question and answers

  • All kids get a chance to speak!

We have conducted 110 sessions over the last two years. Today, 3,000+ children are connected with the Gita class Help us expand Gita class and start offline sessions for more immersive experience.

3. National Gita Scholar Program

We understood that we need to GAMIFY our approach. Kids engage when there is some competition. That led to the idea of Gita Scholar, an annual competition, where kids from across India participate.

We DO NOT do a quiz on Gita facts or do mantra recitation!

Round 1

We ask kids to write on a topic on a simple A4 sheet on a philosophical question: Who is God? What is our relation with God? Why so many Gods?

Round 2

And then we organize debates between kids on various topics to develop critical ability.

Prizes were distributed by the Editor of NBT, and this year’s ceremony will be held on Gita Aashish Diwas, with children joining from across India.
Help Gita scholar reach 50,000 kids with regional events and competitions culminating to a National challenge.

Your donation directly supports competitions, prizes, learning materials, and outreach to children who otherwise lack access.
