The Power of Learning

Story

In a city filled with tall buildings and busy streets, lived a little girl named Poonam. She loved to run around in the parks and play with her friends after school, but she didn’t enjoy studying much.

One afternoon, her tuition teacher, Mr. Sharma, went to the park where Poonam was playing. He called her for her studies, but as usual, Poonam was reluctant to go home.

The teacher then decided to talk to Poonam and her friends, who were playing in the park.

He asked the group, "Does playing make you all happy?" All the children replied in one voice, "Yes, very much." The teacher asked again, "Children, what if I tell you the source of real happiness that never ends.

The children were amazed, "What is that? Please tell us about it.

The teacher smiled and said, “Children, true happiness and strength come from understanding and gaining knowledge?”

Poonam was puzzled. “Sir, how does knowledge make me strong and happy?” she asked.

Mr. Sharma smiled kindly and replied, “Let me share a story with you. It is the story of a little girl like you.”

Mr. Sharma narrated the story.

Knowledge is Power

“There once was a young girl who wanted to create a beautiful garden on her rooftop. Every time she planted flowers without preparing the soil properly, the plants would wither away. Then one day, she asked her gardener about it.

The gardener told her that she had to prepare the soil with the correct amount of nutrients. The girl learned how to care for the soil and give it the right nutrients. After that, her garden flourished and blossomed beautifully.”

Poonam listened closely.

Mr. Sharma explained, “Knowledge is like the soil and nutrients for your garden of your mind. If you build your life on learning and understanding, you will grow strong and wise. Knowledge gives us clarity, confidence, and the ability to make better choices. It makes us into better individuals.”

Poonam decided to give it a try. She started paying more attention in her tuition classes

and at school. She began asking questions. Soon, she found that learning made her feel happy and confident.

One day, Poonam helped her friend solve a tricky math problem because she had studied it in class. Her friend exclaimed, “Wow, Poonam! You’re very clever!”

Poonam smiled and thought, “That’s because I chose to seek knowledge and truth.”

From that day onwards, Poonam started doing her regular studies and was now eager to learn new things.
