Story of Devi Kali
Devi Kali’s story comes from the Durga Saptashati, Devi Mahatmya, a part of the Markandeya Purana. In this story, Maa Kali emerges from Goddess Durga during a fierce battle between the Devas and the demons Chanda-Munda and Raktabija.
Chanda and Munda were 2 demons who attacked Devi Durga. Maa Durga fights with such fierceness that Maa Kali emerges from her forehead and defeats both the demons. Since then Devi Kali is also known as Devi Chamunda. Maa Kali is the most fierce form of Maa Durga, wearing a garland of skull and protruding tongue.
Raktabija was another powerful demon who had a unique ability: each time a drop of his blood fell to the ground, a new demon would be born from it. This made him almost invincible as the more he was attacked, the more demons would be produced. To stop this, Maa Durga called for her fiercest form, Kali. With her wild hair flowing and her eyes burning with anger, Maa Kali appeared on the battlefield. She struck down Raktabija and, in her terrifying form, began to drink all of his blood before it could touch the ground. She swallowed every drop, preventing more demons from being born. Eventually, she defeated Raktabija, ensuring the victory of good over evil.
myNachiketa presents Maa Kali Gayatri Mantra for children to bring about positive changes in their lives. Let's read the story of Devraj and Rani and discover how Maa kali Gayatri Mantra helped them overcome their problems in life.
Devraj discovered his positive side
Devraj was a young 10-year-old boy. He was faint-hearted and a pessimist by nature. Every time, he got a new project he would get scared and think negatively. His friends would not like to get paired with him for any assignment because of his negative approach and his cowardly nature. No medicine, no advice, nothing would work on him. Kanthraj, his father secretly gave him Maa Kali Gayatri Mantra and told him to keep it top most secret for the mantra to work. Now, Devraj would chant this mantra morning and evening and after some time, he developed positivity in himself. He would not speak negative words like: he cannot do it, what if something goes wrong, what if it does not work and many other negative words. From being a fearful boy, he turned to become courageous and bold.
Rani learns that nothing is permanent in life
Rani was a 13-year-old girl in class 8th. Her life followed a routine: go to school, do homework, play, and sleep. She had four best friends since childhood. One day, she came to know that her friends were shifting to a different place. This really disturbed Rani as she thought that nothing could change in her life. Rani didn’t want to accept it. She thought if she ignored the changes, things would somehow go back to the original way. But in the following weeks, she found that no matter how much she resisted, the changes kept coming. Her favourite teacher announced her retirement, the old bakery she loved was shut down, and her cousin with whom she shared all her secrets was going to a hostel. All these things really disturbed her and she started feeling low. Her mother who was a true devotee of Maa Kali gave Rani Maa Kali Gayatri mantra. Reciting this mantra soon made Rani realise that nothing is permanent in life. There was a new teacher in school, a new sweet shop had come in place of the old one and her cousin would speak to her on the phone. This Maa Gayatri Mantra helped Rani come out of her depressed state of mind and also taught her that while change can be painful and difficult to accept, it is an inevitable part of life, so, we should welcome them with hope and positivity.
