'Gyanam Param Balam': Knowledge is the Greatest Strength Pic 1

Have you ever wondered why some people seem to shine brighter than others? Why can some of your friends solve tricky problems or come up with amazing ideas? The secret is knowledge — a treasure that grows the more you share it!

In our ancient Hindu philosophy, great teachers like Maharishi Valmiki, Adi Shankaracharya, Rishi Veda Vyasa, and many wise saints taught us that knowledge is the greatest strength of all.  Knowledge helps us make the right choices, understand the world, and become kind, strong, and wise people.

myNachiketa presents ज्ञानं परमं बलम् (Gyanam Param Balam) - Knowledge is the greatest strength! Children, you can learn about the power of wisdom through the teachings of Bhagwan Krishna and other great sages — discovering how knowledge helps us make good choices, stay calm, and be kind.

The Power of Wisdom

Let’s start with a little story about Dhruva, from Srimad Bhagavatam—a young boy known for his determination.

One day, Dhruva felt sad because his stepmother didn’t let him sit on his father’s lap. Hurt and confused, he asked his mother for advice on what to do. She gently said, “Pray to Bhagwan Vishnu". So, little Dhruva went deep into the forest and began to meditate. He didn’t cry or give up. Bhagwan Vishnu was so pleased with Dhruva’s devotion that He appeared and blessed him: “You will shine forever in the sky as the Dhruva Star, guiding others with your light.”

Instead of seeking shortcuts, Dhruva learned about patience and resolve, realizing that with knowledge comes the strength to overcome anything. His story teaches us that knowledge is not just the ability to read and write, but understanding how to apply what we learn in real life.

Krishna’s Lessons on Knowledge

In the Bhagavad Gita, Shri Krishna teaches us that knowledge leads to clarity. He says:

न हि ज्ञानेन सदृशं पवित्रमिह विद्यते।

na hi gyanena sadrsam pavitram iha vidyate

It means that there is nothing in this world as pure and powerful as knowledge. It helps us grow, understand, and become our best selves. This shloka reminds us that with knowledge, we can break through confusion and discover our true selves.

Why Should We Value Knowledge?

Let’s think about your everyday life. Whether you are trying to make friends at school, learning a sport, or tackling a tough subject, knowledge can help:

  • Making Friends: Understanding how to listen and share can be learned, helping you connect more deeply with others.

  • Learning Sports: Knowing the rules and techniques in sports gives you the upper hand and makes you a better player.

  • Problem Solving: Whether it's math or challenges with friends, having the ability to study situations leads to better solutions.

That’s how knowledge helps us grow, make wise choices, and become kinder, stronger, and more confident every day. The more we learn, the brighter we shine!

Connecting Knowledge with Everyday Life

In the same way Dhruva learned about perseverance, we can learn from our daily experiences. Every time we read a book or ask questions, we are learning things around us and gaining wisdom. This can help us build our confidence and strength.

Shri Krishna often encouraged people to seek knowledge in nature, relationships, and experiences. He taught us that learning should never stop. Even in the Mahabharata, Krishna guided Arjun about the importance of being knowledgeable in both battle and life. We can learn to behave and maintain our relationships with love, respect, and understanding, just like Shri Krishna showed through his friendships and guidance.

Because true knowledge is not just in books—it's in how we treat others.

So, dear children, as you go on little adventures every day—at school, at home, or with friends—remember that knowledge is your greatest strength! It helps you see clearly, make good choices, and find your way when things get tricky—just like it helped Dhruva and Arjun.

Every day is a chance to learn something new, ask questions, and grow a little more.

Let’s love learning, because it helps you become the best version of yourself.
