Shri Krishna is one of the most loved gods in Hinduism. He is the eighth avatar of Bhagwan Vishnu. Shri Krishna’s mother was Devaki, and his father was Vasudeva. He was raised by Yashoda and Nanda, who were Vasudev’s friends.
Krishna was wise, brave, playful, and kind, and is known for his charm, wisdom, and divine powers.
Shri Krishna's Updesh is full of lessons that can make us better people. Let’s learn 5 great qualities from Krishna that every child can follow!
1. Kindness
(Krishna's teachings)
Krishna always showed kindness and cared for everyone around him.
One day, little Krishna saw a fruit seller passing by his house in Gokul. She was calling out to sell her fruits, and Krishna wanted to eat some. Since he had no money, he carried a handful of grains to exchange. On the way, many grains slipped through his small hands, leaving him with very little. The kind fruit seller happily gave Krishna fruits in return for the few grains he offered. After reaching home, when she looked into her basket, she was surprised to find it filled with precious jewels.
Krishna blessed her generosity and selflessness with beautiful rewards.
Krishna's Lesson: Kindness means sharing, helping, and protecting others. Always be kind, even in small ways, like sharing toys or helping a friend.
2. Courage
(Krishna's teachings)
Krishna was courageous even as a child.
When he was just a baby, he defeated the demon Putana, who tried to harm him by feeding him poisoned milk. Later, as a young boy, he fought the giant serpent Kaliya, who was poisoning the Yamuna River. Krishna defeated him and taught him a lesson; never bother innocent people.
When Krishna grew up, he showed great courage by facing many challenges, like fighting the evil Kansa and guiding the Pandavas during the Mahabharata war.
Krishna's Lesson: Courage means standing up to fear and doing the right thing. Be brave, whether it’s speaking the truth, trying something new, or protecting someone who needs help.
3. Friendship
(Krishna's teachings)
Krishna is known as the perfect friend.
Even after becoming a king, Bhagwan Krishna never ended his friendship with Sudama, who was less fortunate. Krishna welcomed Sudama warmly to his kingdom and treated him with great respect. He even secretly filled Sudama’s home with riches when he realised his friend was struggling to survive.
Krishna’s bond with Arjuna and with the Pandavas shows the power of true friendship. He stood by them through their tough times and gave Arjuna the wisdom to succeed in the battle of the Mahabharata.
Krishna's Lesson: Friendship means being loyal, kind, and supportive. Be a good friend by listening, sharing, and helping your friends when they need you.
4. Wisdom
(Krishna's teachings)
Krishna was very wise and knew how to guide others.

In the Bhagavad Gita, he taught Arjuna to focus on doing his duty without worrying about the result. This helped Arjuna overcome his doubts and fight for justice.
When the people of Vrindavan were about to worship Indra Dev to please him for rainfall, Krishna taught them the importance of being grateful to nature by encouraging them to worship Govardhan hill instead. He also lifted the Govardhan Parvat to save villagers from a dangerous storm sent by Indra Dev.
By this, Shri Krishna also taught Indra Dev that he must perform his duty of providing rainfall rather than wait for people to please him first.
Krishna's Lesson: Wisdom means thinking carefully and choosing what is right. Use your knowledge to solve problems and make good decisions.
5. Playfulness
(Krishna's teachings)
Krishna loved playing games as a child

Little Krishna loved playing games with his friends, eating butter from his mother’s pots, and enjoying the simple joys of life. One day, Krishna ate mud while playing. His mother, Yashoda, scolded him and asked him to open his mouth. When Krishna did, Yashoda saw the entire universe inside his tiny mouth—stars, planets, and all creation! This playful act amazed her and reminded her of Krishna’s divine nature.
Krishna always had a purpose behind his actions. His fun-loving nature taught people to live with joy and laughter.
Krishna's Lesson:
Playfulness means enjoying life without hurting others. Laugh, play, and have fun, but always be kind and respectful to those around you.
