In Hinduism, there are three very important gods who together take care of the whole universe. They are called the Trimurti: Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva. Each one has a special role, and together they keep the universe moving in balance. Let us learn about each one of them and what Brahma, Vishnu, and Mahesh together teach us.
myNachiketa presents The Makers of the Universe- Trimurti.
Who is Bhagwan Brahma?
Bhagwan Brahma is known as the creator of the universe. Just like an artist paints a picture or a builder makes a house, Brahma ji created everything we see around us: the sky, the earth, the trees, the animals, and even us!
You can also think of God Brahma as the energy of new beginnings and growth. He has the energy of evolution, like the ever-rising sun that brings light, growth, and transformation to all.
According to Hindu scriptures, Brahma ji is depicted with four heads, symbolising the four directions and his vast knowledge, riding a swan. He is said to have created everything from mountains to rivers, animals to humans.

ॐ चतुर-मुखाया विद्महे हंसा-रूड़ाये धीमही तन्नो ब्रह्मा प्रचोदयात्॥
Om chatur-mukhaya vidmahe hamsa-rudraye dhimahi tanno brahma prachodayat
We meditate on the four-faced one (Brahma), the one who has the form of a swan and the Rudra aspect. May that Brahma inspire and guide our intellect.
Who is Vishnu Ji?
Vishnu Ji is the preserver of the universe. He makes sure life continues to grow and develop in the right way. He protects all that Brahma created and ensures everything is in harmony.
Vishnu Ji takes many forms known as avatars to help restore balance in the world whenever trouble arises. In one of the avatars as Bhagwan Ram, Vishnu ji taught us the value of honesty and courage, and in another as Krishna, He showed us how to spread love and joy.

Vishnu represents the energy that sustains and nurtures life: like food that gives us strength, water that helps plants grow, and kindness that keeps families and friends happy.

In the Bhagavad Gita
Yada yada hi dharmasya glanir bhavati Bharata
Abhyutthanam adharmasya tadatmanam srijamyaham
Paritranaya sadhunam vinashaya cha dushkritam
Dharmasamsthapanarthaya sambhavami yuge yuge
Whenever there is a decline of righteousness and a rise of unrighteousness, O Bharata, I manifest Myself. To protect the good, to destroy the evil-doers, and to establish dharma, I appear in every age.
This teaches us that we should always strive to do what is right and help those in need, just like Vishnu Ji!
Who is Bhagwan Shiva?
Bhagwan Shiva is known as the destroyer, but this doesn’t mean something scary. When we say 'destroyer,' it doesn't mean he creates chaos. Instead, Shiva helps to clear away old and worn-out things, making way for new growth and new beginnings. Just like when leaves fall from trees in autumn and new ones grow in spring, Shiva ji’s energy clears the way for fresh beginnings.

Shiva embodies the energy of cosmic restoration. He teaches us that endings can lead to new beginnings, and sometimes, letting go is just as important as creation. Through his dance, known as the Tandava, he brings destruction and transformation together.
Bhagwan Shiva is often described in the Upanishads as:
शिवोऽहम्, ब्रह्मानन्दः।
Shivo'ham, Brahmanandah.
I am Shiva, the essence of true bliss.
This teaches us that true happiness comes from within, and by embracing change, we can find joy in every situation.
The Significance of Trimurti in Hinduism
The Trimurti teaches us that creation, preservation, and transformation are interconnected. Just as day turns into night, and night into day, these three powers work together to maintain balance in the universe. They remind us of the importance of each of our roles in the world. By nurturing our dreams and creating new things (Brahma ji), doing good for others and sustaining development (Vishnu ji), and embracing change (Shiv ji), we can bring harmony and beauty into our lives.
What Can Kids Learn from the Trinity?
The Trimurti offers many valuable lessons for children:
Embrace Creativity: Like Brahma, you can use your imagination to create wonderful things, whether drawing, telling stories, or playing games.
Do Good: Be like Vishnu and always help others. Acts of kindness make the world a better place.
Welcome Change: Just as Shiva teaches, change can be a good thing. Don't be afraid to let go of the old to grow into something new!
So, remember, as you explore the world, think of the Trimurti, your friends in spirit who guide and inspire you every day. Together, they show us that life is full of beginnings, care, and change – and each step is important for growth.
